As well as the Missa Nova I have now written a very simple setting of the new Catholic Liturgy for unison voices. This is under consideration by the Liturgy Office at the moment. The Missa Nova, a setting of the new Catholic liturgy has been approved by the Liturgy Office for England and Wales. It is for amateur SATB choir and congregation, but can be performed just by cantor and congregation. The mass has been in use at St. Edward's and The Holy Name Catholic Church in Shaftesbury for some time and is working very well. Having enjoyed a summer of writing songs, I have had a great autumn and winter writing and anthems and motets. These are for SATB, either unaccompanied or for organ(manuals only) and piano, Most last between 3 and 4 minutes. I will be uploading them soon. Thorough revision of the 5th Quartet has now taken place with a new 1st and 2nd movt. 6th Quartet draft now complete. This huge project is nearing completion with only final small revisions now needed. All quartets are available as scorch files with 1-4 and 6 as mp3s. Robin Highcockÿs project of writing a set of six string quartets is no entering its final stages. String Quartet no 5 has been revised and is awaiting final polishing but can be found under Works in Progress. The rough drafts of the1st 4th and 5th movts of String Quartet no. 6 can also now be found in the same place. This huge and exciting challenge has already produced a huge range of music and with the last quartets nearing completion the variety is even greater. Look out for the final versions! Sinfonia no. 2, originally performed in 2001 has been revised, with a new first movment and extensive rewriting of the fourth and second movements. This will be performed in March. The Sound has Barra has now been expanded for a full-size orchestra. Various alterations hava also been made to the second section. The new scoring is 2Fl/Picc, 2 Ob/CA, 2Cl, 2 Fag, 4 Horns, 2Tpt, 3 Tromb, Tuba, Timpani, Percussion (1 player) and Strings.
